Welcome!

For more than twenty years, the Registry of Physician Specialists (RPS) has been the primary organization working with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) delivering mental, primary, and specialty health care. We have been expanding our services and now have opportunities at various locations throughout the United States.  As an early participant in the application of Mental Health Services Delivery System (MHSDS) guidelines, RPS has been a strong force in the execution of diagnostic models and treatment protocols for correctional care.

Continually working with facility staff, RPS carefully selects its members with the distinctive features of correctional health care in mind. RPS physicians, along with CDCR officials and staff, join leading authorities and researchers to shed light on mental health issues in the correctional environment. Under the guidance of RPS, the Registry Foundation, a non-profit organization, has encompassed these issues, presenting seminars accredited by the California Medical Association.

Many members of our panel are graduates of leading residency programs including Stanford University and the Menninger Clinic. They provide distinguished medical and psychiatric services throughout California as staff members of major hospitals, universities, and as private practitioners. Once registered for membership, these providers are carefully prepared for the unique aspects of administering health services in the prison setting. They are trained and supervised according to CDCR guidelines.
